Small Miracles

by John D. Callahan, Copyright © 2004 by Faith & Reason Ministries.

To the true Christian (see "Right With God") God is real and personal, and His actions are directly seen. Internal, small miracles are seen almost every day in the form of supernatural knowledge, conviction, and guidance. External, small miracles are less frequent, and truly spectacular miracles are rarer. I share one small miracle below.

A dear cousin (I grew up with) studied to be a Catholic priest, but, in college, he became agnostic, very sacrilegious, and gay. This was in the 70s and 80s. He got AIDS, became ill, suffered much, and died in 1987. Towards the end of his life, while he was very ill, he told me a story. He said that every night he would wake up and need to change his clothes because he would be soaked in sweat. However, recently Jesus came to him in a dream. (My cousin had turned back to God.) Jesus held out a set of giant hands and asked my cousin if he would like to sleep with Him that night. The hands where together and opened palms up. My cousin walked over to the hands and climbed into them. Jesus then gently closed His hands around my cousin. And yes, you guessed it, my cousin slept completely normally, peacefully, and without sweating the entire night.
